## Digital service histories&#x20;

This guide explains how to deal with **digital service records** when returning a vehicle.

### What a digital service history is

Some manufacturers store servicing and maintenance records **electronically** instead of (or as well as) a stamped paper service book.

### What you may need to provide at return

If the service record is kept electronically, you may need to **produce evidence** that the vehicle has been serviced and maintained according to the manufacturer’s servicing/maintenance schedule.

Appropriate evidence can include **hard copies** of a service record or invoice clearly showing:

* the **date**
* the **vehicle mileage reading**
* the **repairer/service agent’s stamp**

### Privacy

If you provide documents (paper or electronic print-outs), remove any **sensitive personal information** from them before sharing.
